London, UK

After a week in the UK for work I stayed an extra in London to do some things I have always wanted to but never had the time.  You could see all of the pre Olympic work going on it the city, both the Circle and District lines were undergoing major improvements, which made getting around a little more interesting that normal.

In the morning I went to the Imperial War Museum, south of the city.  It was an interesting collection of things from WWI forward to the present.  V1 rocket, Lancaster bomber and German tanks were all on display.  A lot of the artifacts were of a very small nature (pens, manuals and the like) from all of the conflict British forces had participated in.  To really see everything could have taken all day, but I was trying to squeeze the Tate Modern so I did it at a run and moved on.

Tate Modern was fantastic.  Truly an amazing experience if you enjoy modern art at all.  A wonderful space and an incredible collection, even if it's a little Euro-centric.

These 15" guns were fired in first used in 1918 and last in 1945.  They could send a 2000 lb round 17 miles downrange.

Tate Modern, housed on an old power plant on the Thames.

From the South Bank near the Tate Modern looking back over Millennium Bridge.

There were maybe 100 people in these costumes walking around on the South Bank.  Werewolves in London?
