France, Day 10, Gold Beach

Our trip to Normandy and our trip to France ended at Gold, a British beach, near Arromanches. This is one of the only beaches where the portable harbors (Mulberries) are still visible.  We hand lunch on the beach and then grabbed crepes flavored with Calvados, an apple brandy they make here.  I made the mistake of using Conor as a table while I fiddled with my camera.  He managed to get the crepe and the paper towel holding it into his mouth.  I think this makes his first solid food either crepe or paper towel.

It's amazing to realize that less than eleven months after the landings here, CAN/US/UK forces will meet Russian forces in Berlin.

This is what I mean by not preserving the beaches
