Our first full day in Cardiff. We set out early by bus for Castle Coch (the Red Castle) which is in the hills above Cardiff near the village of Tongynlais. Our first bus trip was a failure, we were speaking Texas English to the driver and he was speaking Welch English back to us and something was lost in the translation and we missed the stop. Fortunately some of the locals helped us out and pointed out the stop in Tongynlais, a pretty cool village.
A 20 walk later were were at Castle Coch. It’s the first time Trip Advisor has ever steered us wrong. A Victorian fabrication (owned by the same person and Cardiff Castle) this one was more like a doll house. Totally cheesy. The hi-light of the castle was a "picture coloring room" where Julie drew a picture for our god-daughter. On the way back we met some of the same people from the bus ride in the morning. They were very excited people were visiting south Wales. It was great to get to talk to some of the locals.
