This afternoon Julie and I set off for Naples and the Amalfi coast. Getting from the States to Naples turned our to be a little tricky. There were lots of direct options from DFW to LHR & MAD, but no good connections to NAP. Iberia through Madrid was the best option time wise, but there was only one flight a day NAP, so any missed connection would have been bad news. We decided to aim for the BA direct direct flight from LGW, but that meant either transferring from Heathrow to Gatwick or making another connection in the States. We settled on BA 777 service from ORD to LGW. Though AA and BA are both One World airlines, they don't share a terminal in ORD, which means you have to clear security again in ORD, adding about 45 minutes to the connection. The BA and AA staffs were great about making sure bags made the transfer, and I'd fly the route again in a heartbeat.
