After smooth connections the whole the arrived at the Naples airport (all four gates of it) mid morning and headed for Hotel Excelsior, right on the water near Castel dell'Ovo.
After a bit of nap we headed out into Naples. We'd been warned by Susan, Frank and others that the city was something of a dump. I'm not sure I was prepared for how bad it was. It may have been founded in the 9th century BC, and I'm pretty sure they gave up trying to pick up trash or clean up graffiti by the 8th century BC.
My favorite part of the city was via Tribunali, one of the oldest districts of the city. Great crowded streets, alleys in the shadows.
As dirty as the city was, the pizza was fantastic. We took dinner at one of the dozen restaurants in the Castel dell'Ovo. It was so good we all forgot to write down the name of the place, but they all looked promising.
