Hominy Grill

Dinner reservations had taken up a good part of the previous night.  We knew we wanted something with:

  • Charleston charm
  • Provide access to the city to continue our walking tour from the previous day which was cut short by rain
  • Would keep the foodies entertained
  • Not break the bank
While we knew some great places like S.N.O.BAnson's and Husk would hit most of these, all fell apart in the "don't break the bank category."  Falling back on a suggestion from the owner of Sugar, we made a reservation Hominy Grill. We we're steered wrong.  It's a small place, and reservations are a must, but everything that came to the table (shrimp and grits with mushrooms, shrimp and okra beignets, buttermilk chicken, pork ribs off the bone with molasses sauce were out of this world.)  With drinks, coffee and desert we all walked away only $40ish poorer.  Even better, we'd been forced into a 5:30 reservation which seemed like a drag at first but turned out to mean we could walk off our rich dinner and do so in the cool of the evening.  Winning!
