France, Day 2, Louvre

We started out on a classic cold and dark Paris morning for a blitzkrieg tour of the Louve.  The lines are insane, but some of that may be because the first Sunday of every month is free.  Our tour guide suggested that we aim for a Thursday evening next time, but to be careful because some galleries close at differnt times.  The collection is vast and beyond impressive.  I think I could spent 2-3 days there, maybe a week.  We saw some of the French collection, including a room full of Rubens and a room of David.  I made a game of trying to spot the Napoleonic eagles.  The Mona Lisa was a much of of a "Eh" in person as I expected, I can't understand why people queue as long as they do for it.

We only got a few hours before we had to leave for the 2.5 journey down to Vandenesse, near Dijon.

Outside the Louve

Trying to decide what hardware to take in.  Conor is a fan of a 35mm / 1.8

Coolest elevator ever

There are big spiral staircases from street level down to the entrance.  In the middle of each they have this open pillar elevator, but it's reserved for people who can't take the stairs.  Julie got to go as Conor's "attendant."
