France, Day 4, Along the Ouche

After returning from Chateu Nuef, we took the bikes out for a ride down the canal, covering the distance the barge would cover in the next 3 hours in about 20 minutes.  We stopped in the next village down.  Many of the small villages (think ~200 people) are empty during the day as people commute into Dijon.  It was really surreal to walk around the village an not see another person

This puppy belonged to one of the lock keepers.  He was really sweet and wanted so badly to jump on-board.

The barge finally met up with us here and we made a trip to a small farm that makes several types of goat cheese.  It was a real trip.  The owners are French monarchists.  She grew up up French Congo and he's an engineer who quit working and took up the goat farming business. They made about a half dozen types of cheese and sold them locally.  She was very particular about the way the cheese was sliced, giving very specific directions and then examples.  We did get as "not bad for Americans" at the end.
